Ozone Atak 2
The Atak 1 has it’s name well deserved, because it kept attacking your balls….:-) However the Atak 2 does not do this at all. The elastics keep the straps on the side of whatever can hurt down there. The transition from skiing to flying, so from standing to sitting work well with the Atak 2. It’s a reversibel harness without a backpack…you can pack it inside its own back pocket, to transport it. But it has no shoulder straps, so it doesn’t become a backpack. When going for a hike and fly, you need to bring a backpack with it and wear it on top. If you are just doing laps at lift, you can have some stuff in the back pocket of the harness. It’s big enough to fit avalanche gear, or even a 2nd Speedwing when folded really neatly if you ever have to.
Like all Ozone Products, the build quality is amazing. It’s made really durable. Are the seems are just perfect. Ozone says it fits pilots up to 195, but it looks pretty small for such tall people and not great for longer flights.
Adjustments; You can adjust the shoulder straps, but not at the shoulder, but at your hips, so the shoulder straps are very clean and neat. Perfect to wear another backpack on top. You can adjust the leaning back below your armpits. This one is double looped adjustment, that takes some time to adjust, but then it stays and never moves. Then you have the lateral strap, to change the carabiner distance and also another one to pull our legs together if you prefer that.
What we like about the Atak 2
- Doesn’t attack your balls anymore
- packs down small enough to bring it on a hike and fly
- very durable
- Very good built quality
- Padding in the legpads
- Integrated minimal back protection (like skier back protection)
- Low attachment points for good weight shifiting
- Very fair price
- Pocket for the phone
- Pocket for the stuff bag
- Measured weight is 1150g
Good to know
- Cut is rather small, one size only. Up to 170 it fits for sure, when taller you need to try it. The shoulder straps can be too short for some pilots. But it can fit up to 190 apparently.
- Back support is rather low. If you fly with a heavy backpack on top, it might not be ideal
- If you wanna use a speedbar, it has only one ring, not 2 like most harnesses have
- optional airbag will follow
