Flow Mullet 2
The first Mullet was the 2nd Parakite to hit the Market after the Original Moustache. The first Mullet didn’t have so much dive and topspeed. Now the 2nd Mullet has it all. It glides and dives well and it also has a wingtip steering like the Moustache 2 has.
Launch
The Mullet 2 has rather big openings, so it inflates fast and it comes up rather quick. I’m curious to try it in stronger winds.
Construction of the Mullet 2
It’s very well made, with thick durable Porcher fabrics. That gives it quite a big packing volume than a Moustache 2. Flow uses quite thick and very stiff rods also, which i like.
The Mullet 2 has sheeted Lines at the bottom and unsheated at the top, both are Kevlar not dyneema.
The Flows use heavier and thicker fabrics than the Flares. We measured them and it looks like this;
Mullet 2 20 is 4.3kg
Mullet 2 23 is 5.0kg
Moustache 2 22 is 4.3kg
So the weight on the Flow website isn’t correct!

Stall behaviour
The Mullet 2 clearly always stalls first in the wingtips, just like all Flow Paragliders do. They never stall over the whole span at once, like the Moustache does or the Advance Paragliders do. I don’t want to rate this, i’m not sure what is better or worse.
The Mullet 2 does not get quit as hard before it stalls like the Moustache does. You do get a hardpoint before it goes, but not as hard as on Moustache 2.
One big difference of the Mullet vs the Moustache is the pulley-ratio on the risers. Flow uses a 5 to 1 ratio from Brake-handle to the B-Lines, the Moustache and Bandit have a 6 to 1. That means if you pull 100cm of brake, the B-Lines gets pulled 20cm on the Flow. On the others 16.6 cm. Doesn’t sound like a big change, but it really matters.
5 to 1 Ratio gives you a higher brake pressure while flying, but also make it more direct, you need less travel for all inputs you do. It also affects the stall behavior; parakites stall at a higher speed with a lower ratio, because you can pull less trailing edge down before they stall.
Long story short; The Mullet 2 has more brake pressure while flying and it can’t go as slow as the Moustache. But it’s needs less travel to make lift or dive.
Advantages
- Many sizes avaiable
- very solid and durable construction
- easy to forward launch in no wind
- cheaper than others
Important to know
- Stall point is not as hard and obvious as on Moustache 2
- Leading edge rods need to be packed nicely
- Packing volume is bigger than on a Moustache
