Our Opinion – Skywalk Arak
Skywalk says the Arak 2 has 0.6 more glide Ratio despite having less aspect ratio then the first Arak. They also say it’s even easer to fly than the first Arak. We compared it with an Ozone Geo 7 and it does glide better in calm air and in moving air despite having a similar aspect ratio. We like the fact that the Arak 2 has a B-C pitch control, so also novice pilots can learn to fly active while flying on bar with this bridge.
The Arak 2 is dynamic to fly, it’s agile and nice to thermal, but still well dampened. It’s not too chatty, it doesn’t shake you too much in the harness. Extrem flight behavior is good, collapses are gentle, even on bar, also big asymmetrics. It’s a very nice compromise between not too demanding and not boring neither to fly. It’s comfortable to fly in turbulence, but still very fun to do some wingovers. Skywalk says it’s a Mid-B, we think it’s easy Mid-B.
What we like about the Arak 2
- Good performance despite low aspect ratio
- Comfortable in turbulence
- Very relaxed extrem flight behavior
- Very easy to turn in thermals
- No worries packing (bending the rods is no problem)
- As always with Skywalk: Cheaper compared to other brands
Good to know
- It’s not a super-light wing
