Flare Moustache 2
The Moustache 2 has a few nice upgrades that in sum make it a very amazing parakite. What’s different;
- It has a sharknose, which helps a lot for a lower stallspeed but also keeps the wing pressured well at maxspeed
- It has a thinner airfoil for even more speed and better into wind penetration
- Different twist-curve; Tipps are faster, creating less lift and less drag (but can collapse sometimes)
- Wingtip steering; makes is much more agile when tipsteering line is short
- Mini rips; reduce drag and increase topspeed and glide
- 2 Attachment options for A-Lines (you can tune it if you need it faster)
- Different radius for less roll and better deepspiral exit
- C-Riser come with a larkshead on maillon rapid for easier retrimming
There are some more differences that can’t be shared here… Alltogether the Moustache 2 has a bigger Wind range. It needs less wind to stay up and can handle a 2kts more wind. It builds up more speed in turns than the old one and keeps the speed much better, so you can Flare even further… or make a Flare Loop:-) If you pull the toggles down close to the body, the stallspeed is very low. It really get’s hard there and gives you a clear warning bevor it stalls. Once stalled, you release a tiny bit and it’s 100% flying again, no deep stall or half flying like other parakites do. You can still do nice deepstall landings when you keep your hands away from your body and play around with the stallpoint. The middle of the wing is super solid, more solid than on the M1. You do feel the turbulence more on the M2 and the tipps do collapse sometimes, which you have to get used to. But the middle is very solid even when fully hands up!
The Moustache 2 is quit a bit easier and in many ways more forgiving than the first one. Take off and landings are easier thanks to the low stallspeed and clear stallpoint, plus it’s lower down which is more “normal”. It has less roll and comes out easier from spirals. The Moustache 2 is a perfect parakite for pilots that have never flown one before. Many other parakites on the market have a high stallspeed and don’t warn you before they stall, which makes it a lot more difficult and dangerous.
Advantages
- Very well balanced and easy parakite
- Very low stallspeed compared to others
- Hard, clear well defined stallpoint
- Huge windrange
- Wingtip steering
- Amazing energy conversion allows to fly the Flare Loop
Important to know
- It’s more collapse stable when flying hands up then when at best glide
- It comes without a fast packing bag
