Level Wings Flame Review – Our Opinion
The Flame 2 is similiar to the first Gen. It’s neither a prober speedwing, nor a paraglider. It’s something inbetween. It glides well, but doesn’t have the dive of a Rapido or Mirage. It has a lot of roll and is quite reactive. The Flame 2 feels more forgiving in terms of overshooting and stalling. But compared to a Rapido that has a very forgiving airfoil, the Flame 2 is still more sensitive to very high AoA (deep brakes) or low AoA (overshooting on launch or getting lines slack when riding).
Advantages
- good glide
- Great “go-cart” feeling (high roll and short lines, great for barrel rolls)
- Very reactive to toggle, back riser, and weight-shift inputs.
- Surprisingly stable in turbulences with open trimmers.
Good to know
- It works as a first speedwing, but it’s not close as forgiving as a Dragonfly (but faster and more fun)
